What We Do
Did you know that the average wedding in our region costs as much as putting an addition on a house? Most of us would not make that kind of investment without having an architectural plan and a professional contractor to pull together a quality and cost-effective job with a team of
skilled, reliable artisans. Yet many couples make that same financial investment in their weddings without a plan that fits their vision and a contractor—the professional independent wedding consultant.
At Distinctively You Events, we, Pat and Lynne, are the wedding designers (architects) and production managers (contractors), and
we’d love to work with you on your wedding.
A wedding is a dream, a vision of a perfect moment in time. The vision for each couple differs because…well, each couple is different.
We're here to work with you to make the individual dream, whatever it is, a reality.
We love the conceptualizing, watching peoples' faces light up when they realize that
we see their dream and can relate it to them in terms of what we can do together to reflect it. In the end, it is the couple's vision from which comes an amazing concept and personalized touches that make
the wedding distinctively you.
What will we do for you?
- We’ll customize our services to fit what you need for your wedding.
We offer a variety of customized services to fill the needs of virtually every couple and help make your wedding planning an exciting, happy time.
- When you hire us for planning, we will be your constant advocates and a calming influence, making sure that what you want and what you receive are in line with each other.
- In working on your wedding, we are obligated and answer to no one but you. While
we may mediate disagreements, suggest compromises and offer advice,
we will insist that all final decisions be yours (unless you instruct
us to make certain decisions on your behalf). Throughout the entire process, it will be your vision and your choices that
we will work from.
- We'll recommend the appropriate wedding professionals for your style, your needs, and your budget. Everyone
we recommend has been screened for quality performance and reliability.
- We will manage the hundreds of signature details it takes to produce a wedding that runs smoothly, reflects your vision and frees you, your family and friends to have a wonderful time—both during the planning and during the wedding itself.
- We’ll help you construct a budget that reflects your reality, your priorities and your style. Then
we’ll help you work within it. Our design knowledge and experience allows
us to bring in a knock-out design that is cost-effective.
- We cover all of Southern New Jersey—if you want a wedding in the Princeton area, the Jersey Cape, Jersey suburbs,
Northern Delaware, or Philly Metro and suburbs…we go there.
- For those doing destination weddings to the Southern New Jersey Shore area,
we'll use our resources to give you a wonderful resort wedding in Cape May, Stone Harbor, Avalon, Ocean City—or other Shore town..
- As much as it is within our power…we’ll make your wedding dream come true.
What we will not do:
- We will not try to take over your wedding or dismiss your ideas…it is, after all, your wedding. Rather,
we will follow your vision in working as your right arm. Our involvement is as little or as much as you prefer.
- We will not take any kind of commissions from any vendors whom
we recommend. Our recommendations are based solely on performance and compatibility. If the recommended professional chooses to offer a discount, it will be passed on to you.
- We will not become what it’s about. Our job is to showcase you as a couple by seeing your vision, helping you translate it, and giving you creative tips in bringing together the vision on budget. (It’s not like it is on some of the TV shows; it’s not about
the planner.)
